On The Threshold

My husband and I have returned from a wonderful painting as well as relaxing road trip to three of our national parks. I sometimes painted while he read and hiked and sometimes just took in the scenery and tranquility I found in some of those places.

This gave me time to think about the years I have spent painting and teaching. I have worked hard both painting as well as teaching others how to paint for over 40 years, sometimes interrupted by moves as well as life challenges. These years have been so rewarding and also exhausting. I have gone from 5 galleries to 3 due to changes in ownership as well as closures. I have seen art organizations change as well. I have lost some of my painting friends due to moves as well as changes in their focus.

This has not all been bad.. It is giving me time to think about what I want to continue and what I want to let go. I will continue painting and seeking inspiration from the landscape. I will also continue to paint our furry friends and I still love teaching others painting.

Painting keeps our minds young and we learn from this practice each time we lift a brush. There are lots of things I am still learning and I hope my painting will reflect these changes.
